V8 Monza 2+2 Project Page

4/3/08 - After going back and forth in email, I got the seller down to $2,500.  Not because of my haggling skills.  I just knew that he had been trying to sell it for a while and Chevy's were not his thing.  So I asked him for his lowest price.

Anyway, John and I drove down and picked it up.  There is so many things wrong with it but for the price, it will be a good learning experience for John (body work, mechanical, electrical, paint, etc.).  He is excited.  I know that he wants to drive it so bad :)  I will get insurance on it, check all of the fluid levels, and maybe get over to Woodburn to the DMV tomorrow.

3/30/08 - John, Dad and I drove down to Salem to take a look at it.  The thing was pretty rough.  As Dad put it, there is not one part of it that would not require some work.  Dad is never excited about cars that aren't already completely restored or brand new.

Overall, for a hotrod that old, it is straight and in pretty good shape.  It felt solid (no vibrations or rattles), didn't smoke, didn't see any major leaks, tires looked o.k., etc.  All of the glass looked ok.  The paint was shot and there was cancer in spots.  Needs to be sanded out and repainted.  Front spoiler was cracked up and would need repaired.  And since only 39,215 of the 2+2s were made in 1977, they are quite rare.

Whereas the Buick is about comfort, this Monza is about power. No power steering.  No sound system (yet). No A/C.
